Rail Transport
The Irish Railway collection is one of the finest in Europe. It features historic locomotives, carriages and wagons from both standard and narrow gauge railways. The collection illustrates the fact that Ireland was a major pioneer and innovator in the technology of rail transport. It also shows the crucial role that railways played in the development of Irish society from the early 19th century onwards.
