About the Artist
The Spirit of Flight public art project was delivered by Sharon O’Reilly, who worked closely with staff from the National Museums Northern Ireland to identify and lead workshops with a wide range of community groups from across Northern Ireland.
Between 1986 and 1997 Sharon was employed in a variety of day centres and residential nursing units, working with groups who were assessed as vulnerable and were often marginalized by their communities. She has been involved in a range of therapeutic activity programmes.
Sharon has an honours degree in Fine & Applied Art from the University of Ulster and her degree exhibition was shown in the Odyssey Pavilion Belfast, 16 May–16 August 2005. The work, inspired by the natural community of the Albertbridge birds, involved the students of Sperrin Integrated College, Hydebank Young Offenders Centre, Loughshore students and members of the general public.
Sharon has a wide range of creative skills and experience and can provide bespoke workshops, private commissions and large scale public artworks on various scales.
