Drama and Music
The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum is an excellent venue for drama students.
Offering a delightful backdrop of the early 1900s, the Museum has often been used by post-primary and further education students taking part in media studies and drama classes or simply rehearsing for a particular play.
Courtroom Drama - 'Caught in the Act'
This activity involves the re-enactment of court cases which took place at the turn of the last century. Your class will act out the roles of various characters in the court cases: the defendant, the witnesses, policemen, members of the jury and the Clerk of the Court. The case is heard by a Justice of the Peace who hears evidence from those concerned, but it is up to the jury to decide whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty.
Cost: Please telephone the Education Department.
Preparation: Children and teachers should dress up in Victorian clothing before arrival.

Armagh Rhymers
Among our most popular activities with primary school children and their teachers are the performances and interactive music and drama workshops with the Armagh Rhymers - Northern Ireland's own answer to traditional Mummers. Whether they perform 'The Turnip', 'The Navan Dragon', or the traditional 'Mummers play' , your class will be sure to be totally engrossed in this participative day at the Museum. The Rhymers visit the Museum for
a 4 week period during November and December each year.
Cost: Please contact the Education Department for details
Dates: November/December
Art
The Museum offers workshops to GCSE and A level students inspired by our collection of sketches, drawings and paintings by William Conor. We offer the students an opportunity to work with a costumed life and the workshops will cover aspects of social and art history, use of media and the development of observational skills.
Workshop times are flexible, ideally lasting around 2 hours and the maximum we can accommodate is 30.
The charge for these workshops is £3.25 per student. Please book in advance.
